Tagged out! Says it all doesn’t it? Well for those wanting the details, here’s the scoop! A week or so prior is when this hunt truly began. I had just shot a Jake on the cut corn field below the ridge and had switched gears from deer to turkey so I was after them hard! I spent a few mornings calling back and forth with no luck however I had finally figured out which area the birds had been roosting in and been able to pattern their route from the roost.. so on this day I got off work and ran to the woods as fast as I could.. they were gobbling in the roost before I could even make it to my desired spot so I held back.. after a few hours of cat and mouse calling I decided to inch forward and close some distance.. I would press on an additional 60-80yrds to the desired location I wanted to start at and as I set up the hen decoy I spotted 5 toms at 40yrds in the thick stuff!! I quickly dropped low and sat on the edge of the wood line and yelped twice.. that’s it, that’s all she took.. he came running right up to the top of the ridge to give me a walking 15yrd shot and allow me to tag out! Couldn’t ask for a better season!
